Meet the New Healthcare Scholarship Students

This semester two new students are participating in the Nursing Scholarship program, joining Sandra, who is continuing her studies, as well as the other women receiving mentorship.

Your support during the Little by Little campaign from April 8-12 will help more women like these to build careers in healthcare.

Sonia Elisabeth Chipix Telón

A Guatemalan woman

Sonia is currently studying to be a nursing assistant. For her, entering the field of nursing has been a long-term goal. She hopes to work in a hospital after finishing her studies.

Although it is a challenge to stay on top of her classwork while balancing motherhood and other necessities of life, Sonia has the support of her family and is motivated to achieve her dreams.

"My children and parents are very happy because every day I learn more topics and that helps me to be a better person, as a mother, daughter and citizen that I am," she says.

She loves being able to study and expand her horizons and hopes that her future career will help others and contribute to the well-being of society.

Dina Lisseth Cúmes Tos

Dina is the other new student this semester. She is currently working as a nursing assistant in a private hospital while also continuing her university studies in Nursing Health Care Sciences. She enjoys learning new things and expanding her abilities through these classes.

Initially, Dina was not able to complete high school. After several years of working, she took adult classes in order to obtain her diploma. Because she places a high value on education, she was willing to put forth the effort to reach this goal.

Today she continues striving to learn more. Although her current studies often involve late nights, she is grateful for the opportunities she has and driven to make the most of them. "I will take advantage of this opportunity that you have given to me to continue learning every day," she says.

Dina also finds time to help others, volunteering with children at her church.
